Photo Project: (RISK)

You will make a series of 15 pictures that relate in one way or another. Think of this series as your chance to take a creative risk you have not done before. This series may be made in whatever fashion need be to fit the content you will present. If you want to use film or pinhole or digital or digital pinhole, feel free. The photos may be all color or all black and white, but not a combination of the two.

Since this is a digitally based class, you will have to bring digital files to class for critique. Critique groups remain the same as they did for the video project. All of the images will be projected.

The content is open to you, but a risk of some sort must be taken in the creative process. Let these two quotes by Garry Winogrand guide you through this creative process.

“If I saw something in my viewfinder that looked familiar to me, I would do something to shake it up.”  Garry Winogrand

“Great photography is always on the edge of failure.” Garry Winogrand

These are due 10/29 for Group 1 and 10/31 for Group 2. There will be time in class to have in progress critiques which can be helpful to you, so it is worthwhile to be plan on photographing more than once.

Please size the photographs 2000 pixels on the long side at 72 pixels per inch. Please name them lastname_series_01.jpg through 15. You will turn them in to me in class on your critique day. Please bring a 75-125 word statement about the work to class that is double-spaced and printed out.
